you approach this tree. every few seconds, you hear something hard drop onto the cars below. they sound sizable, a bit like hail, but not quite heavy enough to make a dent.

you look down, and you see that they’ve been chewed up a bit more carefully than last time. you look up, and you see a dozen huge black coats, each with a ragged white spot on its cheek. you smile.
